SUMMARY

We currently have a great opportunity available for a Software Engineer to collaborate in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of web-based applications.  
A Software Engineer’s responsibilities would include interfacing with both internal and external customers to understand their business needs and constraints. Once requirements are understood, engineers need to design and developed applications to fill those requirements in the most effective way possible. This is a highly creative and technical position. The position is currently remote and follows a work-from-home strategy.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned as necessary)


The primary job responsibilities and duties of this position include the following:

  • Translate customer needs to system requirements/work objectives
  • Design/write/analyze/review/update programs in a multi-developer environment
  • Update existing programs to correct errors, increase efficiency, or adapt to new requirements
  • Participate in design/operational reviews to help improve the designs/implementations of others
  • Generate test/production data as necessary
  • Design/implement unit/system/integration tests as necessary and act on test results
  • Provide operational support for programs/systems produced by the team

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of web standards and technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX)
  • Experience writing JavaScript programs for the front end, and/or back end of web applications
  • Experience developing/deploying applications in Linux
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming
  • Solid understanding of XML
  • Understanding of, and experience with SQL
  • Understanding of, and experience with NodeJS/ExpressJS
  • Working knowledge of software development methodologies (RAD / Agile)

 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with applications utilizing significant relational database engines as part of the overall application architecture
  • Experience building and deploying web-based software systems with multiple components and subsystems
  • Working knowledge/experience with DITA XML architecture
  • Experience with single page web applications
  • Familiarity with git
  • Working knowledge of web security standards
  • Conscientious and responsible
  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Previous automotive and/or technical publication experience
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Self-starter, with the ability to be self-directed in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
